PORFIADA FE

– DEFIANT FAITH –

I seek uncertain refuge in these valleys,
nursing fear and loneliness.
My stature thick and ungovernable
struggles with old shadows of freedom.

An athlete runs through yesterday’s high ground
surpassing hoofs and majesty.
A tiger has been stalking me ever since,
cornering my soul with evil.

Fire, mother, earth,
guardian tree,
in Mapudungo
I want to scream.
I run, spear, thunder,
young volcano,
Mapuche blood
I vibrate again.
Sexual world,
spatial rehue,
truthful fighter.

In the den of silence,
patiently arming my heart,
I light up in bleeding fire
to face the invader’s hatred.

Fire, mother, earth,
guardian tree,
in Mapudungo
I want to shout.
I run, spear, thunder,
young volcano,
Mapuche blood
I vibrate again.
